I decided to make this series before the Robert Mueller had completed his investigation. I created it with hope in mind, but also knew there was a chance it wouldn’t go anywhere. I don’t think it really matters. Over the years my thinking about this project has changed and I’m still glad I made it. For one, look at the design on his little bag! The print quality is nuts. But also, now I see this series as an elegy of sorts for career civil servants who are often just nerds for the rules trying to do right by their government and society. For most civil servants, they toil away in obscurity with little to no thanks from the people they serve and if they ever find themselves in a position that gets the public spotlight shone on them, they get shit on from all sides. No good deed goes unpunished, as the saying goes.
